Richard began illustrating local scenes in Plymouth. He illustrated the city centre information boards as well as promoting the area in brochures and magazines.

Richard has spent some years teaching and has worked abroad, in Egypt and West Africa, giving him the opportunity to paint and draw scenes from a variety of cultures. After moving back to the West Country, settling near Bristol, Richard began showing his work in a number of well established galleries. He now paints on a full time basis, showing work in galleries across the country.

As well as producing originals for galleries, Richard is currently working on a range of images called ‘Briggs’ Britain’, which demonstrates his passion for creating varied and vibrant scenes.
